IPADE to Host First EmTech Digital Latin America

IPADE is proud to announce that it will be the host for the first EmTech Digital Latin America program, which will take place on June 25 and 26 at IPADE’s campus in Mexico City. This will be the first time that EmTech, an initiative of the MIT Technology Review, will be hosted in Latin America, following the success of the event in prior years in San Francisco. The event will be hosted in partnership with the MIT Technology Review, Opinno – the Spanish-language publisher of the magazine – Amazon Web Services, Visa, and Genesys.

The event was announced at a morning press conference on March 7. Dean Rafael Gómez Nava and Paulo Tort, Director of Corporate Communications, participated from IPADE, while Fernando Mora, Director of Corporate Affairs, participated from Opinno. They were joined by Alejandro Cosentino, FinTech expert and CEO of Afluenta, a peer-to-peer lending platform. Media outlets present at the press conference included Grupo Fórmula, Foro TV, Forbes, El Economista, El Universal, El Financiero, Milenio, and more.

“It’s fundamentally important to listen to the ecosystem – to the CEOs, academics, entrepreneurs, etc. – to understand how a certain innovation or certain technology can be applied to their reality,” noted Mr. Mora of Opinno. “Mexico is in a privileged position due to its closeness to the United States, as well as its unique connection with the rest of Latin America.”

Following the press conference, IPADE alumni, faculty, and current students were invited to participate in two sessions in the Dr. Carlos Llano auditorium led by Sara Álvarez, Opinno LATAM Innovation Consultant, and by Mr. Cosentino. This sessions served as a preview of the type of content that can be expected at the EmTech Digital Latin America event in June, where more than 400 pioneers and innovators, business leaders, CEOs, academics, entrepreneurs, R+D decision-makers, and investors will gather together during the two-day event to discuss and promote emerging technologies, digital transformation, and new business models. In addition to keynote sessions led by Mexican and international experts, the event will also include a series of breakout sessions and workshops to provide attendees with more practical knowledge of the topics included in the agenda, such as big data, FinTech, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, automation, robotics, and cybersecurity, with a focus on the future of the financial industry.
